11-point demand: Jute mill workers stage demonstration in Khulna
They threatened for a tougher movement if their demands are not met immediately
Workers of the state-owned jute mills in Khulna on Friday staged a demonstration in the city to press home their 11-point demand, including payment of their outstanding dues.
The workers under the banner of "State-owned Jute Mill CBA and Non-CBA Sangram Parishad" held a rally in the city's Khalishpur area.
At the rally, they threatened for a tougher movement if their demands are not met immediately.
The demands include cancellation of public private ownership, payment of provident fund gratuity for the retired jute mill workers, regularising weekly wages, and implementation of the wage commission.
Alim Jute Mill workers' leader Sarder Abdul Hamid presided over the programme.
Abul Hossen, Abdul Mannan Alauddin Ahmed, Deen Mohammed, Khalilur Rahman, Sahana Sarmeen, Bellal Gazi and Ibrahim Hossen spoke in the programme, among others.
