2 held over attack on pvt medical college students in Rajshahi
Police arrested the two on Friday after identifying them through video footage
Police on Saturday arrested two people in connection with the attack on students of Shah Mokhdum Medical College in Rajshahi.
The arrestees are Beauty, wife of the college's managing director Moniruzzaman Swadhin and his brother Mithu.
Police arrested the duo identifying them through scrutinizing video footage after students filed a case over the incident on Friday night, Chandrima Police Station Officer-In-Charge Sirajum Munir told to The Business Standard.
A gang of college authorities including outsiders attacked the students when they went to collect winter clothes at the college hostel on Friday evening, leaving 10 students injured, claimed the students.
The injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in a letter on 2 November, ordered the closure of the medical college as it was running with no formal approval from Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).
The students of the college appreciated the BMDC's decision and demanded the authorities to transfer them to another medical college as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the college authority requested the health ministry to review its order.
After accepting the request, a team of the ministry visited the college on Saturday.
