2 killed, 3 injured as fire broke out Oil tanker at Ctg port

Two sailors were killed and another three injured after a fire broke out on an oil tanker at Karnaphuli River of Chattogram port on Thursday morning.
The two deceased were identified as Nizam Uddin, 40, and Ruhul Amin, 45 while the injured were identified as Abu Sufiab, 47, Shahabuddin, 60 and Monir Hossain.
The 1200-ton inland oil tankers caught fire at around 6:30 am at the engine room and two burnt dead on the spot, said Newton Das, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The injured were admitted at Chittagong Medical College Hospital( CMCH) , said Jahir Uddin Bhuiyan, inspector of CMCH police outpost.
The condition two of them are critical.
The blaze did not spread to other parts of the ship as the rescue team managed to safely douse the fire in two and half hours ( 9am).
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) --Tug boat Kandari 1 & 10 immediately reached the scene and Bangladesh Navy Tug PASSUR and Fire Fighting Team from KEPZ also took part in fire extinguishing.
Now the situation is under control, said Omar Faruk secretary of CPA.
There is no oil spillage & the navigation channel is fully clear.
