2 motorcyclist’s death in Sylhet road crash sparks protest

The death of two motorcyclists in a road crash in Subid Bazar area of Sylhet city sparked huge protest among local people on Monday night.
According to sources, two motorcyclists Sajib, 25 and Lutfur, 20, were killed when a stone-laden truck hit their motorcycle in the area around 10pm.
Being angered by the accident, the agitated locals blocked the Sylhet-Sunamganj road and staged a demonstration.
They vandalised at least 20 trucks and set fire to four trucks.
The vehicular movement came to a halt for an hour following the blockade.
Traffic on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway and surrounding roads was disrupted due to the blockade.
After an hour-long effort, police and firefighters brought the situation under control.
Besides, Police arrested the truck driver, Zahid Mia, 48, said Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Abu Farhad.
