2 ‘poachers’ detained in Bagerhat with deer hides

Police have detained two suspected poachers with 19 deer hides from Bagerhat's Sharankhola upazila.
A team of Bagerhat District Detective Police recovered the hides under the floor of a man's house adjacent to Rayenda bus stand around 1:45 am on Saturday.
The detainees are Md Ilias Hawlader, 35, hailing from Rajoir village and Md Monirul Islam Sheikh, 48, from Bhadrapara village in Sadar upazila.
Police recovered the hides from Monirul Islam's house.
Preparations are underway to file a case against the detainees and hand them over to the court, said Superintendent of Police Pankaj Chandra Roy at a press briefing at the Bagerhat district police conference room at noon.
He said, "The members of the district detective police came to know that deer skins were being sold at Monir's house. In the middle of the night, the police raided Monir's house and arrested them. At that time, a few more unidentified persons escaped. After searching the floor of Monir's house, the police recovered 19 hides in two bags."
