3-day training on safe workplace held at Bangabandhu industrial city
About 80 officials and workers were divided into two groups and trained in various subjects
A three-day training on safe workplace and labour system development in economic zones – arranged for investors, officials, and workers of Bangabandhu industrial city – concluded on Friday.
The training – organised as part of the Support to Capacity Building of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) project under Beza – was held at Bangabandhu industrial city.
About 80 officials and workers were divided into two groups and trained in various subjects to ensure a safe workplace, said a press release.

Md Ali Ahsan, director of the Support to Capacity Building of Beza project and an additional secretary to the government, conducted the training.
The participants were informed of the development activities of Bangabandhu industrial city and urged to fully engage in the pace of development of the country.
Social expert of the project Md Abdul Quader Khan and environment expert Dr Tanvir Ahmed spoke about workplace environmental risks in the development of industrial cities and ways to overcome those.
The general manager of Palli Bidyut Samity talked about the risk-free use of electricity in the workplace and what can be done to prevent accidents.
Beza officials also discussed various topics related to economic zones.
Besides, the Department of Environment representative discussed everyone's role in protecting the environment of industrial cities, and the upazila health officer discussed the health rules to be followed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Mirsarai upazila nirbahi officer highlighted the role of the administration in disaster management and industrial development.
Workshops and rehearsals were organized during the training with the assistance of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Participants praised the training and hoped that Beza would arrange more such programmes in the future.
The concluding session was held on Friday and the executive chairman of Beza distributed certificates among the participants.
He said Beza has always been working to create skilled human resources and the training will be expanded further in the future.
Local youths will be trained in the future so that they can develop the necessary skills to work in economic zones, added the Beza official.
Built on 33,000 acres of land, Bangabandhu industrial city is being developed as the first planned industrial city in Bangladesh and one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
