3 fishing cat cubs rescued in Teknaf

The Forest Department has rescued three fishing cat cubs from a woodpile on the rooftop of a house at Islamabad village in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
The cubs were found at the home of Abdus Salam in Ward 4 yesterday evening (1 February).
According to the Forest Department, locals spotted the cubs in the woodpile and informed authorities. A team, led by the range officer, rescued them, though their mother was not found.

The cubs are now in the Forest Department's custody, confirmed Teknaf Range Officer Abdur Rashid.
"Initially, we fed the cubs two kilograms of chicken and some fish. Later, we gave them one kilogram of milk," he said.
The cubs will be released into a nearby forest this afternoon (2 February), he added.
Earlier on 30 January, the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division of the Forest Department rescued two kittens of an endangered leopard cat from the Bakalia area in Chattogram while being sold online and arrested a trafficker in this connection.
