4 killed, 20 injured in separate road accidents on Dhaka-Mawa expressway

At least four people were killed and 20 injured in separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway today (3 January).
According to highway police, two people were killed in a collision between a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-bound lane at the Hasara point of the expressway around 5am.
Two more lost their lives after a minibus rammed into a covered van on the Mawa-bound lane in the Nimtala portion of the expressway around 12:30am, highway police said.
The two killed around midnight have been identified as Md Jibon, a helper of the Abdullah Paribahan bus and Md Rayhan, a passenger of the bus, confirmed Dr Camelia Sarkar, a doctor at the emergency department of Sreenagar Upazila Health Comlex.
The identities of those killed in the early morning accident could not be known immediately.
"The bodies have been kept at Sreenagar Upazila Health complex," said Abdul Kader Zilani, officer-in-charge of Hasara highway police.
He said the covered van had been seized, but the driver managed to flee, said the OC.
On 27 December, six people, including women and children from two families, were killed, and four others were injured after a bus ran them over at Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza of the expressway.
