The government is going to bring back five Bangladeshi sailors, who had been captured by Houthis along with Indian nationals in Yemen, here soon.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, MP, made the disclosure through a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon.
"Five Bangladeshi sailors, working for a shipping company in Oman, had been captured by Houthis for a long time in Sanaa, Yemen. Indian nationals were also detained," Shahriar Alam wrote on Facebook.
"After being kept as captive for nine months, they were allowed to use their mobile phones after receiving a partial ransom from the ship's owner. One of the detainees first contacted me about two months ago.
Thanks to the efforts of our embassies in Oman and Kuwait, and the Indian embassy in Djibouti, they are expected to arrive in Aden tomorrow. From there they are expected to reach Bangladesh via India," the state minister further said in the Facebook post.
