6 detained with deer meat in Bagerhat

Six, including two women, were detained with 11 kilograms of deer meat in Mongla, Bagerhat, yesterday afternoon (7 January).

The detainees include Robin, Taijul Islam, Sohel Hossain, and Saiful Islam, all of them are fabric traders from Keraniganj, Dhaka, along with two women, Mukta and Kalpana.
"The group stayed at a local resort and toured the Sundarbans' Karamjal and Harbaria areas. They purchased venison during their visit and were preparing to return home by microbus when we received a tip-off and conducted a search," said Suranjit, station officer of the Sundarbans Chandpai Range.
A case has been filed against the individuals under the Forest Act.
The seized venison, microbus, and the detainees were sent to the Bagerhat court today (8 January).
