Abrar murder: Another accused put on 4-day remand
Abrar, a second-year student of Buet, was beaten to death allegedly by some Bangladesh Chhatra League men
A Dhaka Court has placed Shamsul Arefin, accused in the murder of Buet student Abrar Fahad, on a 4-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari today granted the remand after the accused was produced before the court, confirmed Chawkbazar Police Station General Recording Officer Majharul Islam.
Court sources said another accused Moniruzzaman Monir, arrested in Abrar murder, gave his confessional statement before the court where he said he had hit Abrar several times on the night of his killing.
The court also sent accused Akash Hossain to jail when he was produced before the court after his remand.
So far, total 20 have been arrested in the case, while 19 accused have been put on remand and six have given their confessional statements to the court.
Sometime at night between October 6 and 7, 22-year-old Abrar, a second-year-student of electrical and electronics engineering department of the Buet, was allegedly beaten to death by Chhatra League leaders in his dormitory – Sher-e-Bangla Hall.
Ten leaders of the Buet Chhatra League were detained immediately as Abrar's father Barkat Ullah filed a case with the Chawkbazar Police Station on the evening of October 7.
