The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to launch an inquiry into allegations of embezzlement and misuse of government funds amounting to billions of taka in the construction of unnecessary sculptures and murals of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman across the country.
The decision was taken at the commission's headquarters today (2 January), ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed The Business Standard.
He said the commission has also decided to launch inquiry into the allegations against the project director, contractors, and others involved in the construction, renovation, and development of Mujib forts nationwide.
"These allegations include embezzlement of billions of taka, inflated billing and various other irregularities," he added.
