Airbus, Bangladesh explore satellite solutions to address climate concerns

French aviation giant Airbus has conveyed its interest in collaborating with Bangladesh to employ its satellite technology for addressing environmental issues.
At a meeting in Dhaka on Tuesday, Wouter van Wersch, executive vice-president of Airbus, held a meeting with Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury about the critical role of satellite technology in monitoring environmental changes and climate situation.
France's Ambassador to Bangladesh Marie Masdupuy, who accompanied Wouter, said with the collaboration, Bangladesh can leverage the advanced satellite technology of Airbus.
Saber welcomed the prospect of strengthened cooperation between Airbus and Bangladesh in the field of environmental monitoring and climate resilience.
He said, "Satellite technology has emerged as a pivotal tool in the global efforts to monitor and address environmental challenges ranging from tracking deforestation and biodiversity loss to assessing climate patterns and supporting disaster management initiatives."
During the meeting, discussions focused on the latest advancements in satellite technology developed by Airbus, aimed at enhancing the precision and scope of environmental monitoring.
The Airbus vice-president also emphasised partnerships between government, industry, and international stakeholders in tackling complex environmental issues.
Airbus also wants to develop an aviation curriculum
Wouter van Wersch also met Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and offered to develop an aviation curriculum for universities in Bangladesh.
The new curriculum is expected to help improve aviation management efficiency, logistics development, and airline management in the country.
