Akhaura land port to remain closed for 4 days during Durga Puja
A four-day holiday has been announced at Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria on the occasion of Durga Puja.
The holiday was announced jointly by the Importers-Exporters and Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents Association, said Importers-Exporters association's General Secretary Shafiqul Islam.
As a result, the import and export of goods through the port will remain closed from tomorrow (10 October) till 13 October.
However, the immigration authorities said even if the trade is closed, the passenger transit to India through the port will continue as normal.
Various products including frozen fish, rods, cement, plastic, cotton and edible oil are exported through Akhaura land port every day. These products are supplied to the northeastern states of India.
