A group of agitated crowds set fire and vandalised the house of Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed on Gazipur road in Bhola town.
A group of local people marched towards the house of Tofail, member of AL Advisory Council, with a procession around 12:30am, our correspondent reports.
Later, they stormed into the house around 1:45 am and set fire to it.
Some people were seen taking furniture of the house on the road and setting those on fire.
According to locals, Tofail used to stay at this house, named Priyo Kutir, whenever he used to come to Bhola.
Tofail used to conduct political activities from this house. However, no one came here since former prime minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted on 5 August, 2024.
Since then, the house was left abandoned, locals said.
