Anti-Discrimination Student Movement coordinators Hannan Masud, Russel Ahmed allegedly attacked in Ctg
Abdul Hannan Masud, the main organiser, and Russel Ahmed, central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, have accused a group of teenagers of attacking them during a programme in Chattogram.
The incident occurred in the Wasa intersection area of Chattogram city on Saturday afternoon (11 January).
According to the coordinators, several other leaders and workers of the movement were also injured in the attack.
Coordinator Russel Ahmed alleged that the attack was carried out by the members of Chatra League-controlled "Dot Gang".
He further claimed that when they were confronted by this group, they were rescued by the followers of Shariful Islam Tuhin, member secretary of metropolitan Jatiyotabadi Chhatradal.
However, the followers of Khan Talat Mahmud Rafy, coordinator of the movement in Chattogram, were also allegedly attacked.
Earlier that day, Abdul Hannan Masud and Russel Ahmed conducted a leaflet distribution and public relations programme at Biplab Udyan in the city.
Later, at around 9pm, both Russel Ahmed and Khan Talat Mahmud Rafy, along with their respective followers, held a press conference to address the incident.
During the press conference, both groups accused each other of instigating the violence.
