Application fee for all govt jobs, including BCS, set at maximum Tk200
Notification will be issued within a week
From now on, the application fee for all government jobs, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) jobs and recruitment in government banking and insurance institutions, will be a maximum of Tk200.
This decision was taken at a meeting of the secretariat committee on administrative development today, said Md Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.
After the meeting, the senior secretary told reporters that the committee had decided to set the application fee for all government jobs, including BCS and positions in the banking and insurance sectors, at a maximum of Tk200.
He added that the notification regarding the fee reduction is expected to be issued within the coming week.
"Previously, the application fee for BCS was Tk700. Now, the Public Service Commission (PSC) suggested reducing the fee to Tk350. But, today the committee decided to make it Tk200. To apply for the 47th BCS, only Tk200 will be required," said the secretary.
Also, candidates with disabilities will not be required to pay any extra fee beyond the prescribed amount for BCS applications.
The senior secretary said candidates with disabilities previously had to pay an additional Tk100 for special arrangements in their exams. The PSC had proposed reducing this additional fee to Tk50, but the committee decided to waive the extra fee altogether.
A directive regarding the reduction of the BCS application fee will be issued by the PSC, said Mokhlesur Rahman.
He also said the Ministry of Finance will issue similar directives for banking, insurance, and semi-government institutions regarding the new fee structure.
"The government hopes private institutions will also adopt this new policy. We will write to the Ministry of Finance, requesting them to include a note in their notification encouraging private institutions to follow this regulation," he added.
