Atab calls on govt to break air-ticketing syndicate
They also proposed reforms to online travel policies and requested the formation of a "monitoring cell" within the ministry to address unwarranted ticket price hikes
The Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (Atab) has urged the government to break the air-ticketing syndicate allegedly involving officials of certain airlines and travel agencies.
During a meeting with the Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser AF Hassan Ariff at the secretariat today (8 December), the Atab delegation also suggested that the Civil Aviation Authority intensify monitoring to prevent such practices.
They stressed tourism-friendly policies and maintaining a peaceful environment.
In addition, they proposed reforms to online travel policies and requested the formation of a "monitoring cell" within the ministry to address unwarranted ticket price hikes.
They also discussed their initiatives to improve infrastructure facilities at tourist spots across the country.
At the meeting, the adviser said the current government aims to create a democratic, justice-based, and humane Bangladesh.
He praised Atab's contributions to the country's trade and tourism sectors and called on them to play an even more effective role in the future.
