Ban on travelling to village homes during Eid holidays urged
"We are also requesting upazila nirbahi officers, upazila chairmen and union parishad chairmen and members to take effective steps so that nobody can enter the villages from outside" said Bangladesh Passengers’ Welfare Association
Bangladesh Passengers' Welfare Association has requested the government to impose a ban on people's travelling to their village
homes from the major cities on the occasion of Eid Ul Fitr to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.
"People go to their village homes to celebrate Eid festivals as it is our tradition. But this year, the circumstances are different. We have already seen that many countries, including Indonesia, have banned people's traveling to home in villages during the Eid holidays. We are
also requesting upazila nirbahi officers, upazila chairmen and union parishad chairmen and members to take effective steps so that nobody can enter the villages from outside," said a press release of the association today.
It also urged the highway police, district police and other law enforcement agencies to beef up their activities to stop the movement of people by private transports as well as by goods carrying vehicles.
