Bangladesh not giving away gas to India: Momen
Natural gas of the country will not be exported by any means, said Momen
A "misperception" has arisen that Bangladesh is giving away gas to India, said Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen.
"Bangladesh will actually process imported gas and export it to India," Momen told reporters after visiting the construction site of outer stadium of Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Tuesday.
Natural gas of the country will not be exported by any means, maintained Momen.
Drawing on examples of exporting imported and processed Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by other countries, Momen said Bangladesh will be benefited by exporting imported and processed LPG.
Some people are spreading confusion over the water-sharing agreement with India, the minister complained, adding that Bangladesh will share some water from the Feni River on humanitarian grounds.
Maintaining good ties with India, Bangladesh signed different agreements with India, commented Momen.
During Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent visit to India, the two sides signed seven agreements and the prime ministers of both countries inaugurated three projects to deepen bilateral ties.
