BFIU seeks bank account details of 14 more journos
The BFIU sent letters to all banks and financial institutions, demanding the bank account details must be provided within the next seven working days
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) today (15 January) asked for bank account details of 14 journalists.
The BFIU sent letters to all banks and financial institutions, demanding the bank account details must be provided within the next seven working days.
Additionally, BFIU requested the bank account details of businesses owned by these journalists.
The letter further mentioned that bank account details of the spouses and children of the 14 journalists, as well as their affiliated institutions, including account opening forms, KYC, transaction statements, and related information, must be submitted.
The journalists are – UNB Advisory Editor Farid Hossain, Associated Press (AP) Bureau Chief Julhas Alam, Bangladesh Journal Editor Shahjahan Sardar, Dhaka Tribune Staff Reporter Ali Asif Shaon, former press minister Nadeem Qadir, DBC News Senior Reporter Rajib Ghosh, Daily People's Life Editor Md Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Sports In-Charge Swapon Basu, DBC News Staff Reporter Tahmida Sadek Jessey, Channel i Senior Reporter Niladri Shekhar, Bangla TV senior journalist Nazrul Kabir, Gazi TV News Editor Iqbal Karim Nissan, Saju Rahman of Green TV, and former Bangla Vision journalist Aminur Rashid.
Earlier, on 5 January, the bank accounts of 21 journalists were sought by BFIU. Prior to that, on 30 December, the BFIU had sent letters to banks seeking information on the bank account details of 12 more journalists.
