Biman operates first special flight to Singapore

The first special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to Singapore left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:13 am on Tuesday with 106 passengers.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tahera Khandaker told Prothom Alo, "Biman will operate special flights to Singapore three days a week - Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The flights are for stranded Bangladeshi workers returning to their workplaces."

According to the Civil Aviation Authority and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Biman Bangladesh Airlines started special international flights from Saturday to take Bangladeshi workers back to their jobs overseas. Although more than half the flights were cancelled on the first day due to various complications, no flights were cancelled in the last two days. Instead, the number of flights has tripled. Saudi Airlines has also increased their number of flights.

Only four special flights left Dhaka on the first day, Saturday. On Sunday, 12 flights operated, and 20 flights left Dhaka on Monday. 19 flights arrived in the country yesterday with a few passengers, according to the airport.

Airport and airline officials said, about 3,500 Bangladeshi migrant workers went back yesterday to their workplaces overseas. 16 flights in all had left the capital till 8 pm last night. Of these, Bangladesh Biman and Saudi Airlines had three flights each to Saudi Arabia.
