BIWTA halts vessel operations in coastal areas due to severe weather
All vessels operating on routes from Dhaka to Hatia, Betua, Khepupara, Charmontaj, Rangabali, and Monpura have been ordered to halt operations until further notice
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended vessel movement in the coastal areas, citing inclement weather.
Local cautionary signal number 3 has been raised at all seaports.
Ehteshamul Parvez, public relations officer of BIWTA, confirmed the suspension today.
All vessels operating on routes from Dhaka to Hatia, Betua, Khepupara, Charmontaj, Rangabali, and Monpura have been ordered to halt operations until further notice, he said.
The decision was made due to rough conditions in rivers in the coastal regions, which pose serious risks to vessel navigation.
