BNP to meet IGP on Thursday
BNP said they will seek cooperation from police to arrange the programme celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Independence
Representatives of 'Shadhinota Suborno Joyonti Udjhapon Parishad', a platform of BNP formed to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of independence, are going to meet the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Thursday, said a police HQ press release.
Earlier, in a letter sent to the IGP on Monday, the Udjapon Parishad alias BNP leaders sought an appointment with the police chief at his office.
But, due to the busy schedule of the IGP, the police headquarters scheduled 4pm on Thursday for the appointment, the release added.
BNP chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan said besides seeking cooperation from police to arrange the celebration programme, the Udjapon Parishad leaders will also discuss about the overall security measures to be taken to organise it peacefully.
BijanKanti Sarkar, convener of the National Committee for Celebration of Golden Jubilee of Independence, will lead the BNP delegation comprising of Abdus Salam, member secretary of the committee and also advisor to the BNP Chairperson; Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, publicity sub-committee's member secretary of the celebration committee and also BNP Publicity Secretary, and Col (retd) Zainul Abedin, member secretary of freedom fighter's awarding sub-committee and also freedom fighter affairs secretary of the party.
