BNP’s Salahuddin Ahmed promises to rehabilitate the injured if party comes to power
A financial assistance of Tk5 lakh had been provided on behalf of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman
BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said they would ensure rehabilitation of those injured in the July-August mass uprising, stating that all injured activists would be supported if his party took on the country's leadership in the future.
Speaking to journalists at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in the capital today (14 November), Salahuddin emphasised his commitment to the injured, noting that a financial assistance of Tk5 lakh had been provided on behalf of BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
"Tarique Rahman has instructed us to stand by the injured," Salahuddin said.
"Last night, he extended financial aid of Tk5 lakh, which I am here to deliver," he added.
He further criticised the current political situation and remarked, "It's beyond understanding how fascist groups still roam freely in the country or how they claim to be engaging in politics."
Salahuddin also demanded those who were critically wounded be sent abroad for proper treatment.
"We urge the government to immediately identify those who are in critical condition and cannot be treated in the country, and to send them abroad as soon as possible. In particular, those who have lost their sight or have injuries that cannot be treated here should be sent overseas for proper care," said BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed.
