‘The Business Standard has proved it’s a standard newspaper’
Various quarters of people in Chattogram extends their best wishes to The Business Standard on the first anniversary of its publication
Greetings poured in for The Business Standard (TBS) from people of different walks of life in Chattogram as the business daily observed the first anniversary of its publication on Wednesday.
The progress of the newspaper amid the hard times during the coronavirus pandemic has overwhelmed readers, said people who came to extend their wishes at the anniversary celebrations organised at the Chattogram bureau office of TBS on the day.
Awami League mayoral candidate in Chattogram City Corporation election and joint secretary of city Awami League M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said, "TBS is playing a leading role in providing objective news. A group of fearless and young journalists working with this newspaper are bringing to the fore many news of the country's economy that remain out of our sight."

Former mayor and general secretary of city Awami League AJM Nasir Uddin also extended greetings to TBS.
Mentioning that the newspaper has been able to create acceptance among the readers in a short period of time, he said this is the difference between TBS and other newspapers.
He also hoped that the business daily will play an important role in achieving the goal of building a middle-income and developed Bangladesh.
Mohammad Mohsin, vice chairman of PHP Family, said, "TBS has been exceptional since its inception. This is because the newspaper presents good news very nicely. Again, it presents bad news in a way that it makes us feel good to read."
Almas Shimul, additional managing director of GPH Ispat, said, "TBS is our newspaper. The daily has been maintaining the standard of journalism since its inception. I hope they will continue to make progress in the future.
"At the same time, I would expect the newspaper will maintain objective journalism."
Shahriar Jahan Rahat, deputy managing director of KSRM, said TBS has been able to bring a brand new look and feel among English newspapers in the country. "More foreign people are living and working in our country now than ever before. The newspaper is making a great contribution to uplift the image of the country to them. I hope TBS will go further to keep the media transparent and constructive."
Congratulating TBS on its first anniversary of publication, Syed Mohammad Tanvir, director of Pacific Jeans Group and the Chattogram Chamber, said the newspaper has created a new trend in the world of newspapers and journalism. "I hope the newspaper will go further in the coming days."

The initiative taken by TBS to present news through infographics is really commendable. The newspaper highlights the problems, possibilities and solutions in business through analytical and ethical journalism."
Nur Uddin Javed, former director of United Commercial Bank, said the paper has been providing objective news from the beginning and hopes it will continue this progress in the days ahead.
Tanvir Shahriar Rimon, chief executive officer (CEO) of Ranks Properties, said the online edition of TBS brought a revolution. "Now the print edition also has set a standard that is being followed by others. Besides, the contents of TBS are very rich. The newspaper published many good economic reports amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has inspired readers as well as businessmen.
Kamal Uddin, zonal head of First Security Islami Bank, said reports published by TBS on the banking sector are very objective.
Leaders of Chattogram Press Club also greeted TBS on its first anniversary.
The press club's President Ali Abbas said TBS has created a stir in business journalism. "The various types of reports run by this modern newspaper have been welcomed by businessmen, readers and journalists."
Chowdhury Farid, general secretary of Chattogram Press Club, said Chattogram is the commercial capital of the country and TBS is a perfect match for it. In view of this, the port city has also been given priority in the reports published in the last one year. "The desire to make the newspaper top among all English dailies in the days ahead is really commendable."
Also present on the occasion were Salauddin Mohammad Reza, senior vice president of the press club and Ittefaq bureau chief; Nazrul Islam, joint secretary of the press club; Ayub Ali, entertainment secretary; and Shahidullah Shahriar, executive member and bureau chief of Jugantar.

People from good classes and professions are regular readers of the newspaper. The 'Number 1' slogan that TBS has given has been proved true in the last one year. Besides, I would like to thank you for highlighting the news of Chattogram."
Sabur Shuvo, joint secretary of Journalists Union and chief reporter of the Daily Purbodesh; Mostaq Ahmed, bureau chief of The Daily Observer; Jahedul Karim Kochi, senior journalist; Mustafa Naeem, head of the Daily Kaler Kantha; Hamid Ullah, bureau chief of the Daily Usamar; Rasheed H Chowdhury, bureau chief of Banik Barta; Azad Talukder, editor of Ekushey newspaper, and Humayun Masud, bureau chief of Bangla Tribune, among others, were also present.
Raisul Uddin Saikat, chairman of Albion Group, said, "I am a regular reader of the newspaper. I like the sketches on TBS Thoughts page the most, which is completely different compared to other newspapers in the market. Such a presentation of the daily has really attracted the readers."
Leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturer and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in Chattogram also came to greet TBS on its anniversary.
BGMEA Chattogram Region Director Khandaker Belayet Hassan spoke on the occasion. He hoped TBS would uphold the standard of business-friendly news coverage. Besides, it will highlight the obstacles of business through objective news. At the same time, he requested to keep a corner or column for the BGMEA in the newspaper.
