Case filed over rumours about law minister’s mother’s funeral pictures
Kasba Upazila Parishad Chairman Rashedul Kawsar Bhuiyan filed the case as the plaintiff on Wednesday
A case has been filed under the Digital Security Act with Brahmanbaria's Kasba Police Station for spreading rumours about law minister Anisul Huq's mother's funeral pictures.
Kasba Upazila Parishad Chairman Rashedul Kawsar Bhuiyan filed the case as the plaintiff on Wednesday.
According to the case sources, the law minister's mother Jahanara Huq died in the capital's Apollo Hospital on April 18. That afternoon, the funeral prayers were held maintaining social distance in the presence of only 20 or 25 people. Then the body of the deceased was taken to Banani cemetery and was buried with state honours.
But some people made fake pictures of the funeral prayer of the law minister's mother and spread those on Facebook to tarnish the image of the law minister and the government, the case mentioned.
Md Lokman Hossain, officer in charge of Kasba Police Station, said, "The case has been registered. In the statement, it is stated that the propaganda is being spread from 13 Facebook profiles. After investigation, legal action will be taken against the culprits."
