Children among 5 die in separate accidents in Moheshkhali
Five people, including two children, were killed in separate accidents in Moheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar within 18 hours between 7:30 pm on Thursday and 11 pm on Friday.
Two Madrasa students and a vendor died after a gas cylinder used to inflate balloons exploded at the Matarbari High School ground on Friday morning. Besides, 14 others mostly children were injured in the explosion. They were admitted to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Matarbari Union Parishad Chairman Master Mohammad Ullah confirmed the information to The Business Standard.
The deceased were identified as Ahmad Khan Ehsan, 12, son of Jahangir Alam of Dakshin Miajirpara and Ershadul Rahman, 10, son of Azizul Rahman of Balipara, and the balloon vendor Jashim Uddin, 38, of Harbang area of Chakaria.
Officer-in-Charge of Moheshkhali Police Station Abdul Hai said, "After an initial investigation, it seemed the accident occurred due to the explosion of a gas cylinder."
On the other hand, a young man was electrocuted in Majherpara area of Sotta Moheshkhali Union of the upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain,18, son of Nuruzzaman of Maizpara area.
On the same day, another young man named Abul Kashem, 23, died after falling from a tree on Thursday evening. He is the son of Abdur Razzak of Ghona village.
