CIRT formed to ensure security of citizens’ information, money: Palak
The ICT department is also working to create data scientists, says the state minister for ICT
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department has formed a Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) to ensure the security of citizens' information and money, said State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
"The security of information and money, of all citizens and states, is the biggest challenge in the present world," said the state minister while addressing an agreement signing ceremony between Bangladesh Data Centre Company Limited (BDCCL) and Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank over safe information services, according to a press release.
Saidur Rahman, managing director of BDCCL; AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan, managing director of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank; and Md Saidul Alam, chairman, Rajdhani Unnayan Kotripokkho signed the agreement on behalf of their respective authorities.

Mentioning the need to preserve information and money, Palak said, "The ICT department is also working to create data scientists," it read.
He continued, "The number of internet users is increasing rapidly. Additionally, various government services are increasing. Currently there are 43,000 websites on the government's national portal and they are stored in the data centre. Through the 'My Gov' app, more than 640 services are provided."
The state minister also said that more than 10 lakh e-documents have been completed in eight months – even while everything was closed during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
"The government completed all the work through e-documents," added the state minister for ICT, read the statement.
Palak also stressed that the country's information should be stored in the country for the sake of security.
He highlighted the need to form CIRTs in every organisation to protect information and money.
The state minister continued that the digital security agency is ready to provide overall assistance in the formation of CIRTs in organisations.
N M Zeaul Alam, senior secretary of ICT Department presided over the event while, Md Raisul Alam Mondal, chairman of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank and the newly-appointed deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan, among others, participated in the event.
