Closure of book fair recommended

The National Technical Advisory Committee has recommended closing down the ingoing book fair at Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital to contain the further spread of coronavirus infection, says a press release.
The committee also recommended for stoppage of all kinds of social gatherings and closure of various recreational centres immediately to curb the spread of virus, according to the press release signed by President of the National Technical Advisory Committee Professor Dr Mohammad Shahidullah.
In a meeting on Thursday, the committee also suggested increasing ICU and Covid-19 ward beds as much as possible at the hospitals and strengthening service capacity of medical colleges outside Dhaka.
It welcomed the 18-point directive issued by the Prime Ministers' Office (PMO) and sought a certain action plan in this regard.
Arrangements need to be made to ensure a smooth service for Covid-19 test. Adequate preparation is required keeping in mind that the demand for coronavirus test may increase in the coming days, the committee said.
Apart from that, steps should be taken to ensure that the fresh guidelines are being followed properly, it said.
