Commerce Ministry recognised as the best public organisation
Commerce Secretary Md Zafar Uddin received the award on behalf of the ministry at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Film Archive in the capital on Friday.
The Ministry of Commerce has been honored and recognised as the best public organisation in the 7th Digital World-2020 for its special contribution to e-commerce sector in the country.

Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman MP was present as the chief guest at the closing and award-giving ceremony.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, presided over the ceremony, while AKM Rahmatullah MP, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee of the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology (MoPTIT) was present as a special guest.
Senior Secretary of ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam; Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Parthapratim Deb; and President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Syed Almas Kabir were also present on the occasion.
The theme of this year's technology-related event was 'Socially Distanced, Digitally Connected'. The event is one of the largest in South Asia, held virtually,owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the plan to build a digital Bangladesh, the commerce ministry has been arranging e-commerce training across the country under the project titled—"I will do e-commerce, run my own business", with a view to increasing skilled manpower and creating employment in this sector.
The e-commerce-skilled manpower will keep the wheels of our economy moving to meet the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution. In order to strengthen digital commerce, the ministry has been providing policy support to e-commerce companies under Bangladesh Digital Commerce Policy-2018.
The importance of e-commerce is vital considering the ongoing adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic. It has been playing a critical role in the supply of daily commodities and medicines during the pandemic.
The commerce ministry, along with the e-commerce association,organised ahighly acclaimed online mango fair during mango season this year. The online onion sales activities of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) are fairly successful amongst consumers, and measures have been taken to expand its future capacity.
