Dhaka University forms committee to investigate violence between 15 July and 5 August
Dhaka University has formed a probe committee to investigate incidents of violence in campus from 15 July to 5 August during the quota reform movement and student uprising.
The seven-member committee has been asked to submit its report within 45 working days.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Niaz Ahmed Khan formed this committee on 8 October and officially informed the members of the committee in a "very urgent" letter yesterday (14 October).
The letter mentioned that the members of the committee can include new members if they deem necessary.
Quazi Mahfujul Hoque Supan, associate professor of the law department and provost of Sir AF Rahman Hall, was made the convener of this fact-finding committee.
Other members are Acting Dean of Faculty of Law Mohammad Ekramul Haque, Professor Nadia Newaz Rimi of Department of Management, Professor Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane of Department of Botany, Provost of Shamsun Nahar Hall Nasreen Sultana and Assistant Proctor Shehrin Amin Bhuiyan.
The university's Deputy Registrar (Investigation) Sheikh Ayub Ali will serve as the secretary of the committee.
It is said in the letter that this fact-finding committee has been formed to investigate the illegal and violent incidents that took place on the Dhaka University campus from 15 July to 5 August and identify the people involved and bring them under administrative action. The committee has been asked to submit its report within the next 45 working days.
