2 govt officials, wives sued for illegal wealth
Former TCB officer Ali Azam Khan and his wife Jahan Ara amassed wealth worth over Tk1.23 crore and provided the ACC with false information about the sources of their wealth
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against two government officials and their wives for amassing wealth beyond the known sources of income.
Of them, one was filed against a former officer of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Ali Azam Khan and his wife Jahan Ara in Dhaka.
The other one was filed against Mohammad Ali, food inspector of Nageswari LSD, Kurigram and his wife Sajeda Begum.

ACC Director and spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the information to The Business Standard on Thursday.
According to the case statement, former TCB officer Ali Azam Khan and his wife Jahan Ara amassed wealth worth over Tk1.23 crore and provided the ACC with false information about the sources of their wealth.
Meanwhile, Sajeda Begum, wife of food inspector Mohammad Ali, allegedly amassed a wealth of Tk92.24 lakh by illegal means. As she has no visible income source, she held all the illegal wealth of her husband, reads the case statement.
