ACC probes SM Rezaul, Monnujan for corruption, misuse of power Corruption
According to ACC sources, SM Rezaul Karim has acquired illegal wealth through various anomalies and corruption by misusing his power while he was in office
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an inquiry against former fisheries and livestock minister SM Rezaul Karim and former state minister for labour and employment Monnujan Sufian on allegations of corruption and abuse of power.
According to ACC sources, SM Rezaul Karim has amassed illegal wealth through various anomalies and corruption while in office. He has movable properties in Pirojpur's Nazirpur and Dhaka.
The ACC alleges that Rezaul misappropriated Tk25 crore under the "Livestock and Dairy Development" project while he was in charge of the livestock ministry.
The ACC has also found evidence that Monnujan Sufian, her assistant personal secretary and younger brother Md Sahabuddin, her daughter Shamima Sultana Hridoy, and the son of Monnujan's sister Yasir Arafat Prithibi have acquired illegal wealth through corruption.
According to the ACC, Monnujan owns a five-katha Rajuk plot in Uttara's Sector-10 and a three-story house in Khulna's Daulatpur. Additionally, she has two cars and a 16-katha plot at Mouthuri Housing in Khulna's KDA area.
The ACC sources said members of Monnujan's family had earned significant wealth through recruitment, posting, and promotions trade, which the commission is investigating.
