AL leaders Rokeya, Mostofa placed on 3-day remand in murder case
A court today placed Dhaka North City Mohila League organising secretary Rokeya Jaman and president of Kafrul thana Awami League (AL) Jamal Mostofa on a three-day remand each in a case lodged over Jubo Dal leader Shamim's murder.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Ahammed passed the order as police produced the duo before the court pleading to place them on a seven-day remand each.
According to the case documents, the BNP called a grand rally on 28 October 2023. Awami League also called its grand rally in the capital to foil the pre-scheduled programme of BNP.
At one stage, Awami League men, with the help of police, attacked the BNP rally in Nayapaltan, killing Shamim on the spot.
The case was filed with the Paltan Police Station on 24 September.
