Casino kingpin Samrat on fresh remand
The Anti-corruption Commission filed a case against Samrat for amassing wealth illegally on November 12
A court today placed casino kingpin Ismail Chowdhury Samrat on a six-day remand in a case filed over amassing wealth illegally.
Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes passed the order today.
On November 12, the Anti-corruption Commission filed the case against Samrat for amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income.
On October 6, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Samrat, also the president of Dhaka City South Jubo League detained from Cumilla's Chauddagram along with his close associate Arman.
As per Intelligence sources, being the Dhaka south city unit Jubo League president, Samrat took control of Dhaka's underworld, earned millions controlling illegal gambling, casinos, extortion and tender manipulation.
