3 months of SC hotline: 33 complaints filed
These complaints were filed through the SC hotline, which was launched three months ago
Over the past three months, the Supreme Court (SC) administration has received 33 complaints related to misconduct, bribery, negligence, and irregularities within the judiciary.
Of these, 12 complaints are against judges of various district courts, three against staff of the High Court Division, 12 against district court employees, and six against lawyers.
These complaints were filed through the SC hotline, which was launched three months ago.
The Public Relations Officer of the Appellate Division Md Shafiqul Islam released yesterday a press statement with these details.
The statement said that, under the directive of Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, the SC launched its helpline service on September 26.
The helpline was mainly established to assist justice seekers or service seekers facing obstacles in receiving services from any branch of the Supreme Court Registry or experiencing difficulties related to service access.
Through the helpline, service seekers can contact the SC via direct phone calls or WhatsApp to seek advice regarding service-related issues or challenges.
The helpline operates from Sunday to Thursday, excluding public holidays, between 10:00am and 4:00pm. A designated official from the Supreme Court Registry operates the helpline during these hours, providing necessary assistance and advice.
Each month, a report is published summarising the legal consultations, case-related inquiries, and complaints received through the helpline, along with an overview of the actions taken by the SC in response.
As of January 1, marking three months since the launch of the helpline, the service has handled a total of 1,003 calls from across the country. Among these, 604 calls were for legal consultations, while 344 inquiries were related to case information. All callers were provided with immediate information.
