Son remanded over killing mother in Jatrabari
A Dhaka court today placed a man named Mamun on a one-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of his mother Banu in the capital's Jatrabari area recently.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Ahammed passed the order as police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on a five-day remand in the case.
Mamun's cousin Kamal Hossain filed the case on 29 August for killing Banu and the police arrested the accused on the same day.
According to the case documents, Mamun used to fight with his mother regularly. He allegedly beat up his mother on 27 August, leaving her seriously injured. He also threw his mother out of the house, forcing her to spend the night on the street. Neighbours found Banu dead the next day.
