Writ filed seeking instruction on fast delivery of coronavirus test results
In the writ petition, the secretary of the health ministry and the director general of the health department have been made respondents
A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking directives to expedite the process of coronavirus testing and delivering results.
Supreme Court lawyer Moniruzzaman Lincoln filed a writ petition in the virtual high court bench of Justice JBM Hasan on Sunday.
In the writ petition, the secretary of the health ministry and the director general of the health department have been made respondents.
The writ petitioner said there could be a hearing on the writ petition this week.
Lawyer Md Moniruzzaman Lincoln said, "As the results of the coronavirus tests are coming out late, people with symptoms are at risk. So, if the samples are collected immediately and reports are given through rapid testing activities, infected people will not put other people at risk."
Moniruzzaman Lincoln further said, "If the report is positive, the affected person will be careful himself."
He said, in the writ, instructions have been sought on necessary steps for a faster testing and publishing result process.
