Abrar murder: Police arrest fugitive Akash
He is currently being taken to the DB office
Akash Hossain, student of 16th batch of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) and one of the fugitives accused in the murder of Abrar has been arrested by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from Gazipur bypass area today afternoon.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Khandaker Rabiul Arafat Lelin, additional deputy commissioner, said, "We have arrested Akash from a hideout in Gazipur bypass area in the afternoon."
"He is currently being taken to the DB office," he added.
On early hours of Monday, Abrar, 22, a second-year-student of electrical and electronics engineering department was allegedly beaten to death in his dormitory Sher-E-Bangla Hall.
A total of 10 Chhatra League leaders of Buet unit was detained as Abrar's father Barkat Ullah filed a case with Chawkbazar police station on the same night.
