Attack on Nur: 3 Muktijoddha Mancha activists sent to jail
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman sent the three leaders to jail when police produced them before his court after the end of their remand
A Dhaka court on Saturday sent three Muktijoddha Mancha leaders to jail, cancelling their bail prayer, in a case filed over attack on Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur and 27 others.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman sent Al Mamun, general secretary of Muktijoddha Mancha's central committee, Yasir Arafat Turjo, its Dhaka University unit general secretary and Shanto, a member of the organisation, to jail when police produced them before his court after the end of their remand, said Sub-Inspector Mahmud Hossain, general recording officer of Shahbagh Police Station.
Ducsu Vice President Nurul Haque and 27 others were injured in an attack allegedly carried out by activists of Chhatra League and Muktijoddha Mancha on the Dhaka University campus on December 22.
According to eyewitnesses, Ducsu VP office was also vandalised during the attacks.
Sub-Inspector Abdur Roich filed a case over the attack on Monday night with Shahbagh Police Station.
