Bangladeshi expat doctor killed by 'robbers' in Dhanmondi
A Bangladeshi expatriate was killed and his wife injured by suspected robbers at their residence in the capital's Dhanmondi area today.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid, 85, an UK-based doctor who arrived in the country with his wife, Sufira Rashid, in September.
The incident occurred around 3:10am, said Hazaribagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam.
Neighbours found Abdur severely injured and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctors declared him dead.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said Rashid had multiple stab wounds on his chest and face.
The body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy, he added.
According to CCTV footage, three individuals entered the house through a balcony around 3am, said OC Saiful.
"We think they came to steal. We are currently analysing the footage to identify them," he added.
