Law enforcement has further been instructed to prevent chaos on the night in the city
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will not allow the city's inhabitants to hold DJ parties on the night of 31 December, the last day of English calendar year, in the capital.
The DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam confirmed this at the DMP's monthly crime conference on Saturday.
He also instructed members of law enforcement to prevent chaos on the night in the city.
DMP sources said, ahead of Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations, the police have taken stern measures to tackle any untoward situation.
The DMP commissioner also ordered all cops in the DMP area to remain alert while performing their duties to avert the impact of possible second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the country, said Walid Hossain, deputy commissioner of DMP (media).
According to DMP sources, no miscreants will be able to vandalise statues in Dhaka and police will keep close surveillance on them.
