Police constable hacked in Rajshahi
The attacker broke into the traffic police compound, launched attack on the constable named Joy Kumar, snatched away his helmet and fled the scene
A police constable in Rajshahi received injuries as an unidentified youth made a sudden attack on him with a sharp machete inside a traffic police compound in Vatapara area of the city on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police sources, the youth broke into the traffic police compound, launched attack on the constable named Joy Kumar, snatched away his helmet and fled the scene.
Wounded Joy Kumar was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital immediately after the incident.

Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara Police Station Shahadat Hossain said the miscreant is a mentally retarded individual.
According to him, Constable Joy Kumar is posted at Rajshahi Police Lines. He was on duty with the traffic police when the incident took place.
Describing the incident, Shahadat said, “Police set up a check post at Veripara circle near traffic police office. They confiscated a motorcycle at that check post. Constable Joy took the motorcycle to the traffic office compound.”
“While Joy was leaving the compound, the owner of the motorcycle rushed in, hit him with a machete on his head, snatched the helmet from Joy and ran away,” Shahadat added.
Police drive is underway to catch the culprit, he added.
