Probe committee to investigate graft of DIG Mizan
Confirming the news, Assistant Inspector General (media) of the Police Headquarters Md Sohel Rana said further steps will be taken soon after getting the probe report
A three-member probe committee is going to investigate police’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mizanur Rahman Mizan over bribery allegations.
Confirming the news, Assistant Inspector General (media) of the Police Headquarters Md Sohel Rana said further steps will be taken soon after getting the probe report.
Police Headquarters formed the committee on Tuesday with Additional Inspector General Mainur Rahman Chowdhury as its head and Additional IGP Shahabuddin Koraishi and Superintendent of Police at the Police Bureau of Investigation Mia Masud Hossain as members.
Earlier, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said DIG Mizanur Rahman would be punished if it is proven that he bribed Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) director Khandaker Enamul Basir, who is a member of the committee investigating Mizan’s wealth.
On June 10, the ACC suspended Basir and removed him from the probe team for allegedly leaking a probe report to DIG Mizan after taking bribe.
Mizan had been withdrawn as additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and attached to the Police Headquarters following an allegation of threatening a female news presenter of a private television station in January last year.
