Sikder group’s MD Ron Haque arrested at Dhaka Airport

Detectives have arrested Ron Haque Sikder, the son of Sikder Group owner Zainul Haque Sikder, immediate after his landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for his father's death.
Ron Haque, managing director of Sikder group, accused in a attempt to murder case filed by Exim Bank, remain absconding.
He returned country from Dubai for his father's death.
A team of Detective Branch of Police of Gulshan Branch arrested him around 10am immediate after landing at the airport, Walid Hossain, deputy commissioner (media) confirmed it to The Business Standard.
Later, he was sent to court following arrest from Dhaka airport.
Ron would be produced before the court by 3pm today, said police.
Two directors of Sikder Group allegedly tried to kill Exim Bank's Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Haider Ali Mia and Additional MD Mohammad Firoz Hossain by shooting them for refusing to price the value of the directors' mortgaged property at a higher level for a loan, according to a case filed by the bank authorities with Gulshan Police Station.
They also tortured the two senior bank officials confining them at a house in Banani and forced them to sign a white paper.
A case has was filed with Gulshan police station on behalf of MD Mohammad Haider Ali Mia.
Ron's brother Dipu Haque Sikder, who is the another accused in the case, did not return to the country.
Zainul Haque Sikder, the chairman of Sikder Group of Industries, died of Covid-19 on Wednesday. He was also a freedom fighter and renowned social worker.
