Polls soon after crucial reforms: Asif Nazrul
The law affairs adviser said most of those in the interim government are eager to return to their professions as soon as possible
The elections will be held as soon as possible after completing some crucial reforms, said Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul today (19 November).
"We will conduct the elections as soon as possible after making some of the most essential reforms. We do not want a repeat of the fake elections like before, nor do we want anyone to win and then have the opportunity to conduct another sham election," he told reporters during a press conference at the Secretariat.
Asif Nazrul's statement comes just after Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus told Al Jazeera during an interview on Sunday that if political parties want, the interim government will proceed with election preparations without implementing any reforms.
The law affairs adviser also said most of those in the interim government are eager to return to their professions as soon as possible.
'CSA to be replaced with Cyber Protection Act'
At the press conference, Asif Nazrul said the interim government is set to introduce the proposed Cyber Protection Act to replace the existing Cyber Security Act (CSA).
He also said the interim government is formulating regulations for appointing judges to the Supreme Court.
Besides, the amended International Crimes Tribunal Act is also ready to be approved by the Advisory Council.
