DC conference begins Sunday

A five-day annual conference of the deputy commissioners (DCs) gets underway in the capital on July 14 with land-related problems in focus.

Of the proposals, highest 29 are on the local government ministry, followed by 26 on the public administration ministry, and 20 on the land ministry.

The main programme of the conference will be held at the Shapla Hall at Prime Minister's Office at 9:00am, said Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam on Thursday.
Briefing journalists at the Bangladesh Secretariat, Shafiul said a view-exchange meeting will be held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina around 11:00am on the first day.
“Overall corruption will reduce if the deputy commissioners can solve the land-related problems across the country,” he said, mentioning land issues will be the major focus of the meet.
At least 29 working sessions will be held where ministers, advisers to the prime minister, state-ministers, deputy ministers and senior secretaries of 54 ministries and divisions will attend the conference.
During the five-day meet, the officials, who run the district administrations across the country, will be meeting with the chief justice, the parliament speaker and the chiefs of three services – Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force.
The cabinet secretary said 93 percent of the decisions made in the last DC conference have been implemented.
