Dengue: 1 more death reported in 24hrs
During the period, 104 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever
One more death was reported from dengue in 24 hours till Saturday morning (28 December), raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 570 this year.
The death has been reported in the Barishal division, outside the city corporations, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the period, 104 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, it added.
Of them, 19 dengue patients were admitted in hospital under Dhaka North City Corporation while 23 were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Currently, 720 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Since 1 January, a total of 1,00,868 dengue cases have been reported.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, making it the deadliest year on record.
According to the DGHS, there were 3,21,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries in 2023.
