Dengue: 5 more die, 570 hospitalised in 24hrs
Meanwhile, 627 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country
Five more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till this morning (5 December), raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 514 this year.
During the period, 570 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of them, 99 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka North City, 98 in Dhaka South City, 138 in Dhaka division (outside of city corporations), 34 in Rajshahi division, 54 in Barishal division, 47 in Chattogram division, 64 in Khulna division, 17 in Mymensingh division, one in Rangpur division and two in Sylhet division.
Meanwhile, 627 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country in last 24 hours. With this, a total of 92,001 people have been discharged this year.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, making it the deadliest year on record.
According to DGHS, there were 3,21,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries in 2023.
